StephFromBelmont’s Interior Design top tips
Known for her interior design wizardry on social media, StephFromBelmont has been chatting to Sterlingbuild about her top five tips to master the art.
When it comes to interior design, there are few better on social media to take advice from than StephFromBelmont, as her 43,000 Instagram followers would certainly testify.
Steph has been in the process of renovating a 1900 Victorian Villa, which she has done a tremendous job with and has very kindly given us at Sterlingbuild her top five tips to interior design.
1. Upcycling

“We all have things in our home that go out of fashion quite quickly. I am a big believer in making something fit your aesthetic and upcycling rather than getting rid and buying new! Our dining table and chairs were £100 from Facebook Marketplace – I just sanded down the chairs and table legs and then gave it all a good lick of (neutral!) paint.”
2. Panelling

“To panel or not to panel? At the minute, we all seem to be loving a bit of panelling and I am in love with it. Panelling can easily add depth, character and a feature to an otherwise ‘normal’ wall. I love to add beading and pegs to my panelling, as you can accessorise it.”
3. Triangular Styling

“Apparently, the rule of thumb when styling spaces, is to have things that are in a triangle shape to add height and purpose. I actually kind of get it and try to use this when styling shelves and coffee tables, for example. Adding a higher decorative piece also draws your eyes in.”
4. Soft Furnishings

“It is easy to forget how soft furnishings such as cushions and blankets can make a house feel warm and lived in. I have cushions and blankets everywhere and they are a fab way to style a space without breaking the bank. I always use feather inserts and I like that ‘Mrs Hinch’ chop. Blankets are great for adding texture and can add warmth to a room.”
5. Home Fragrance

“I am obsessed with home fragrance and it’s a long running joke that all I ever buy are candles and reed diffusers! Having two dogs in the house, it’s a bit of a must. Home fragrance adds a touch of luxury to a room and having candles lit that smell beautiful can make all the difference, for that real homely feel.”
