What was done?
The client had an existing, dated bungalow and was looking to extend up to create their dream living space, but after investigation, it was deemed more cost effective to demolish the existing property and create a new build, as opposed to a refurbishment and remodel.
While this was a very bold step, it meant that the client could get exactly what they were looking for to the smallest detail, which grants the owner a fantastic retreat from a stressful and hectic work life.
The main aspect of the property is the now upstairs living space with a large open plan design, incorporating bifolds and terraced areas with a sea view.
Four Signature flat roof lights were implemented as part of the daylighting, while a bespoke designer staircase was also put in place to reach the new level.
How have the changes improved the home?
The transformation aspect of the property is obviously drastic given it’s been knocked down and rebuilt, but the new additions have made a big impact.
Thanks to the Signature flat rooflights, daylight floods down the staircase thanks to a large fixed lantern, while three smaller lanterns illuminate the kitchen area.
Also, one of the lanterns is electric, which allows the owner to provide essential cross ventilation in the summer months and whilst cooking or entertaining.
The extra space has made a huge difference as well, with the owner having much more room around the house.
What daylight was added?
Four Signature flat rooflights were used for the construct, which have played a huge part in transforming the property for the better.
The windows themselves have made the property look sharper thanks to their sleek design, but with 78% light transmission, really will allow light to pour through and brighten the place up.
In addition, Signature windows can shut out up to 35db of outside noise, so living inside the house will be a quiet and peaceful experience.
One of the four used was the electric access version, but both come with a 15-year guarantee.
