What was done?
The owner wanted
The first task then was to take the roof completely apart and turn the pitched roof into a flat roof, thus enabling the extension to take shape.
In addition, a space was created for a Korniche lantern, as while the extension wasn’t massive by any means, it was still lacking suitable daylight options that would’ve made it feel airy and bright.
Once the flat roof was installed
How have the changes improved the home?
Substantially, as what was before quite a dingy kitchen space that the owner perhaps didn’t want to spend a lot of time in, transformed into a beautifully lit new kitchen area.
The extension itself is still the same size, but it now feels a lot bigger due to the daylight options and the kitchen itself looks much more modern and fresh than the original kitchen area.
As such, the client is delighted with the changes and has a greater level of satisfaction within their own property, which is the end goal everyone aspires for when having an extension.
What daylight was added?
The extension already had a pair of double doors, which remained in place, but the crucial addition is that of the Korniche lantern, which sits perfectly above the kitchen space.
As it’s quite a small kitchen, the lantern pretty much lights the whole area up regardless of whether it’s a cloudy day or a sunny one, so it’s only spotlights that are needed inside the kitchen itself.
Because of this, the lantern has had a huge impact and the client will definitely notice all of the benefits of having a Korniche lantern all year round, but especially in the summer months.
