Quirky Lincolnshire vehicle renovation
Project Type: Combine harvester conversion
House Type: Vehicle
Location: Boston, Lincolnshire
Time Taken: Two months
Built by: Will Roughton and Josh French
Daylight: Korniche lantern
What was done?
In incredibly unique fashion, the owner wanted to turn their combine harvester into an outdoor space to relax, do some star gazing and just generally have a place to chill out.
First of all, the inside was gutted and turned into a quirky bedroom, while electricity was fitted inside, as well as some storage
Then, the cosmetic side of things started to take shape as the inside was given a fresh lick of red paint, in keeping with the exterior finish, along with some light decorative finishing touches.
Finally, the roof was cut apart in order to make space for a truly bespoke Korniche lantern, which sits above the bed and operates as a huge source of natural light.
How have the changes improved the home?
Given the Korniche lantern sits directly above where you’d rest your head on the bed, the owner now has tremendous views from a comfortable space, which was exactly what they set out to do.
The combine harvester has now been transformed into a uniquely individual
It can also be used as a unique Airbnb, where people can take in the extraordinary surroundings they find themselves in, while being in a one of a kind space.
What daylight was added?
A bespoke 1000mmx850mm Korniche lantern with a white outer frame and an ambi blue glass tint was fitted onto the combine harvester, adding a truly distinct and one-of-a-kind look.
The lantern itself is very energy efficient with a U-value of 1.2 w/m2K and also comes with toughened glass, while it is also very easy to maintain in terms of cleanliness.
Perhaps most importantly given the purpose of the combine harvester, while the Korniche lantern is great for keeping the heat in, it also reflects 60% of heat from above, so the space should never be too hot.
