Made in Chelsea star Tiffany Watson adores interior design

and spoke to Sterlingbuild about the renovation of her

recently-acquired London apartment.

"When my partner, Cameron McGeehan, and I were looking at renovation properties, we ended up going for a flat in Fulham as we’ve both always wanted to undertake a project. It made sense to do it together and one of the first things we needed to renovate was the kitchen."

Tiffany wanted to open the kitchen space out to allow for entertaining and accommodate an island

but, upon recommendation, opted for a kitchen peninsula to make better use of the space.

"We opted to go for a side-return extension and have the kitchen and living room as an open space.

I knew I wanted to get some light in

but

didn’t know whether to get a fully glass roof or to get three pitched windows. In the end, for privacy, we decided to go for pitched-roof windows;

"With planning permission secured, we gave the keys to the builders and let them do their magic. We went with VELUX windows, however there was a slightly self-inflicted hurdle…we’d accidentally ordered the wrong size.

"We were straight onto our supplier, Sterlingbuild, who were so helpful in getting the right windows for the flat. They delivered them quickly and were able to swap them and get the new ones to me, which avoided major delays in my renovation project as a result.

"With the right windows secured, the builders successfully put up the wall and they also rendered the back – we opted to repaint the exterior to Lick’s Grey 03 shade, which gives it a really sleek look."

The Results

"After about four months, the builders were done and our open kitchen plan was complete! I’m so happy with it – it’s gone from being a small, dingy kitchen into a nice and modern open plan one.

"I’m so happy with the VELUX windows that Sterlingbuild provided – they massively help fill the space with natural light, which is exactly what we wanted.

"Renovations are stressful – getting everything right, making sure it’s the right builder for the job, that you’ve got suppliers you can trust etc – but when it goes right, it’s so worth it."
