The complete package for the best price
By purchasing the flat roof access hatch, you're getting the whole package. The PVCu upstand, the dome with thickness of your choice, and the access hatch opening frame. The access hatch is made to be opened fully and is held open by gas struts for escape and access purposes. The only thing you need onsite is flashing and this is whatever your roof material is, be if it's GRP, felt or rubber for instance.
The ECO upstand
Made from extruded PVCu, the ECO upstand is the most thermally efficient, environmentally friendly rooflight upstand yet. Built with a strong nine-walled cellular structure, this thermally broken upstand also has a groove built into the upstand to allow for a smooth plasterboard finish. The ECO upstand has an overall U-value of 0.92W/m2K. Pre-finished white internally, it gives a perfectly finished design suitable for any interior.
Thickness - 50mm
Height - 160mm
What is the best skin thickness for you?
- Double Skin - Recommended to be used when replacing a dome, ie like for like replacement (U-value: 2.68W/m2K)
- Triple Skin - Must be used on new builds to comply with building regulations (Part L Thermal Performance) (U-value: 1.78W/m2K)
How secure are the roof domes?
Unique to our access hatches are the high-security screwbolts, supplied factory fitted as standard to all units. Once installed, the fixing cannot be removed using common tools. The screwbolt provides a high level of resistance to tampering or forced entry.
The fixing screw or bolt is sleeved within the body of the screwbolt which avoids pressure being exerted on the rooflight glazing as the fixing is tightened. This virtually eliminates the risk of stress fractures caused by over-tightening.
What is a warm roof construction?
Warm roof construction is the adding of insulation to the top of the roof deck which then allows for less heat loss. For any extension, Building Control are enforcing warm roof constructions, and the 300mm high upstand is ideal for any warm roof construction.
Half of the uptand is hidden in the insulated roof space and the other 150mm seen on the roof complies to building regulations.
The simplest route to your roof is through the hatch
The access hatch complies to escape regulations and meets all building requirements for flat roof access. The hatch will open up to approximately 85° and is held open by telescopic struts. These struts are gas assisted hydraulic operation and can be set according to overall dome weight and prevailing site conditions.
By providing a safe route for personnel and equipment, the access hatch is the ideal choice if you regularly require access onto your roof. It includes a locking handle to secure the rooflight in the closed position.
When installed, the access hatches are expected to exceed the life of the roof covering and will not rust or be affected by atmospheric pollution. They are maintenance free once installed. The domes are guaranteed against the effects of defective design, materials or construction for 10 years, subject to certain conditions.
