Velux windows – Some safety tips for self-installation

If you have bought Velux windows, then it is best to hire a professional to install them. If you still want to install them yourself however, then below are some tips that will help you to install them correctly.

When installing Velux windows, the first thing you need to do is read all the flashing instructions provided on each window. Though Velux windows look similar to each other, there are some key differences in terms of the way they are installed. When you are looking to buy Velux windows, always remember to purchase the correct flashing kit along with the window. If you end up purchasing the wrong kit, you will waste a lot of time trying to fit the window and in still might leak.

Even if you have decided to install Velux windows yourself, it is always recommended to have an assistant. Though Velux windows are not very heavy, they have a strong built and handling them alone on a roof can be risky. It is advisable to have some one help you with windows and the flashing kit. The last thing you want to do is fall from the roof while installing the windows. Velux windows are sometimes expensive so you do not want to damage them in any way.

Each Velux window comes with its own detailed instructions. Read them carefully before proceeding with the installation.
