Velux windows – install them with care

The field of home interiors has revolutionised in more ways than one. You can custom design almost anything - be it your attic space or your door handles. Altering your attic appearance can add extra value for your house. It also spares you from the troubles involved in moving to a different house simply for space.

How to effectively transform your attic?

When you are working on your attic room, installing a Velux window can be a great option. Modifying your loft involves getting the lighting and ventilation right. This will help to make your loft airy. Velux blinds can efficiently transform your dark attic into a fine-looking and useful space.

The installation of Velux windows can be best handled by a professional. If you wish to do it on your own, you can use the following tips for perfect installation

Select a proper window size

You need to first determine the size of the window you require and also the most appropriate positioning for it. You need to measure your room dimensions correctly leaving no space for any errors.

Create space for a new window

To create space for new windows, you should remove the tiles or slats from the particular area on the roof and cut through the underlying rafters. There should be enough support between the roof beams and the floor to sustain the weight till the cross beams are fitted.

Unpack Velux windows with care

You should take proper care while opening Velux windows and they should be rested on a flat surface to unpack. You have to take out the glass from the frame. You can do this by displacing the 2 pins fitted in the hinges.

Affix the Velux window

You can install the brackets to the 4 ends of the window frame with the screws provided. The window frames need to be placed on top of the baton and fasten in a proper place.
