The benefits of using concrete roof tiles

If you are thinking of replacing your roofing material or are indeed embarking on a new build project, you will need to choose a suitable material on the roof. Concrete roof tiles, although not the choice of traditionalist, are gaining in terms of the way they look and the amount they are used compared to traditional roofing materials such as slate.

In fact, concrete roof tiles have many benefits:

Cheap concrete roof tiles

Concrete roof tiles are one of the cheapest roofing materials available. So if you have a low budget and you don't have to conform to any pre-requisites concerning the type of material you have to use on the roof, concrete is a great choice.  The manufacturing process requires much less energy than clay tiles, which have to be fired in a gas oven at a very high temperature so other than the energy needed to produce the concrete itself, the tiles have a lower level of embodied energy.

Fire resistant concrete roof tiles

Concrete roof tiles are a man made product which use materials which are extremely resistant to fire. The way they are manufactured makes them non-combustible and their fire resistant properties make them an excellent choice for any build.

The versatility of concrete roof tiles

It's perhaps the versatility and the amount of options that are available which makes concrete roofing tiles a superb choice. The colours, styles and different designs available are amazing and the tiles are available in even greater variety than the clay tiles that they copy.   The moulded concrete profile tiles are also designed to be interlocking, making the entire roof more stable and ensuring that the tiles sit alongside each other perfectly, making both the design and the weatherproofing peerless.

The colour of the concrete roof tiles isn't just a surface colour either as the pigment is added to the material itself, infusing the entire tile and ensuring that, whatever the wear from rain, wind or sun, the colour of your roof tiles won't fade or wear away.
