Summer roofing maintenance

Summer is the time of year to do all those tasks outside that you have been putting off. From simple maintenance tasks such as fixing the latch on the gate, to more complex task such as checking the tiles on the roof, there's a host of different things to do.

If you don't maintain your roof in the summer, this may be your reward in the winter

It's critical that your roof stays in a good serviceable condition, as water ingress can cause considerable damage inside your home, which may only be repairable after making a claim on your buildings insurance.
Most homes in the UK use tiles as a form of roofing material. The tiles usually interlock together and form a barrier that stops rain entering your roof space and so keeps the home dry. Tiles are however prone to damage caused by aging and inclement weather conditions, such as wind.

One of the important maintenance jobs that any homeowner should do during the summer is to check the condition of the roof and look at the tiles in particular. It's easy to see any gaps where tiles may have slipped from the ground, but to get a good look at the condition of your roof you can use a ladder to get a little closer.

If you find any tiles are damage or slipped it's a good idea to contact a local roofing firm, who will be able to make the repairs in a safe and efficient manner.
