Roofs and roofing materials

Commercial and residential buildings use two types of roofs, namely pitched and flat roofs. Pitched roofs are mainly used by residential buildings. These are tilted to enable easy runoff for rainwater. Pitched roofs are used in areas which are prone to rainfall and snowfall.

Residential roofs

Nowadays, there is a variety of different roofing materials used for pitched roofs with clay tiles and slate tiles the most common types.

Maintaining a residential roof can be quite difficult. It requires timely cleaning and care. One must avoid the collection of dirt and leaves on the roof and check for slipped tiles from time to time.

Commercial roofs

Flat roofs are preferred by offices and commercial buildings. These are usually made of concrete and have a sheet metal cladding to facilitate runoff of rainwater. The roofing material used in these buildings is quite tough and can last for many years. Offices and commercial estates usually use concrete buildings and flat roofs. Maintaining these roofs is also not a worry. Maintenance of office roofs is fairly easy, mainly because they use expert professionals to maintain office roofs and windows.

Roofing materials vary based on individual needs, but the sole importance given is to the longevity and the strength of the roofing material.
