Roofing tiles – Four main types

A well built and maintained roof provides security to the owner. To take proper care of the roof, one needs to build it with proper roofing supplies. Roof tiles are roof coverings consisting of overlapping elements. There are different types that are meant to meet varying needs of homes. Here are 4 main types of roof tiles:

Asphalt tiles

Roof tiles made up of asphalt are inexpensive and extremely easy to install. These are long lasting and can stay up to 30 years with low maintenance. Asphalts tiles are stronger compared to others and are difficult to break. These should hence be used to prevent your home from robbery.

Metal tiles

Metal tiles were not used much in earlier days due to its high cost. But their durability and safety has proved that they are worth the price. These tiles have now become common in areas with extreme weather conditions as they withstand rain, hail and storms effectively.

Wood tiles

These tiles are light in weight and easy to install. Wood tiles are cut into a particular size which gives them a unique look. Compared to other tiles, these blinds need high maintenance.

Slate tiles

Slate tiles are of two types
