Roofing supplies – all that your roof needs

Roofing supplies includes a variety of materials that are required for the installation and maintenance of roof. Roofing cement, shingles, gutters, pipes and vents are just a few of the supplies. Here is a brief introduction to common roofing supplies and accessories:

Lumber

Lumber acts as a support structure to the roof. It usually consists of triangular truss and lattice of beams. The roof is then laid over this frame of lumber. The lumber is also used for other elements like:

  • Cornice
  • Frame hanging from the wall
  • The fascia
  • The eave
  • Beam ends of the wood frame

Pipes and vents

Pipes and vents are extended from the roofs. These roofing materials are used to let the smoke and other gas escape from the house. These are best ways to let the excess smoke from cooking gas and hot air from attic go out of your home. Metal strips are usually used to seal the bottom of these pipes and vents.

Other roofing materials

Other roofing materials and tools include ladders, shingles and slater's hammers. This also includes simple tools like broom, bucket, axe and blade, slate cutter, etc. Roofing materials are usually used as tools that help to fix and maintain actual roof accessories.

Roof nails are also an important part of roofing materials. These nails should be long enough as they have to pass through the shingles. Nails are used to fix the supplies in place. If the nails are not chosen properly, they can damage the shingles beyond repair.
