Roofing maintenance

You roof needs to be well maintained and kept in a good condition to stop future problems from occurring. There are many roofing supplies available for you to use to help with roof maintenance. Here are some tips to keep your roof in good condition:

Ventilate your attic space

If your attic space is ventilated properly the timbers and roofing material will be allowed to breathe. This will stop the heat building up in the space and condensation forming, which can cause damp. Ventilation tiles are available if you need to get more air into your attic.

Check the roofing tiles

Just having a quick look at your roof once in a while can determine if you have the start of a major problem. Check for slipped or broken tiles and replace the same as soon as possible.

Check for damp patches in the attic

A quick look in the attic space from time to time should give you an idea whether the roof is leaking. And presence of damp patches or staining on the timbers is indicative of a leak.

Remove debris from gutters

If you let debris such as leaves accumulate in the gutters, the gutters will quickly become blocked and potentially leak. Persistent water which runs down the walls of your home can cause damp patches to appear inside very quickly.
