...Squeeze into a boiler suit, step onto a plane bound for 13,500ft and then willingly jump out with a strange person strapped to your back... how hard can it be?!?
So why are we doing a charity skydive?
On 26 October 2014 a courageous group of our staff will be taking part in a tandem skydive to raise £4500 for Isabel Hospice, who provided valuable support to Bob Stephens, a former colleague and friend who we sadly lost to cancer.
Isabel Hospice provides palliative care and support for adults with cancer and other life limiting diseases and although their work is part funded by the NHS, they rely heavily on fundraising to be able to carry out their work. That is where our staff come in, they are over half way to achieving their target of £4500 and would really appreciate your support. The Event
The skydive will take place at Chatteris Airfield in Cambridge. In the morning the lads will complete classroom training and practical demonstrations on mats. After this they will be donning their safety gear consisting of a boiler suit, a cap, gloves and goggles. Then, after the briefing and getting dressed they'll get into the plane and start the climb to 13,500 feet. Strapped safely to their instructor they will jump and freefall.
To give you a taste of what the guys will experience on the day here's an example:
The Proof
And to to prove that they didn't bottle the skydive we will be strapping a GoPro to our HR Manager, Jamie Sly, so everyone can enjoy the facial expression off the group as they slowly ascend and rapidly descend. Be sure to check our blog for the follow up video!
