How to identify and fix leaky roofs

Roof leaks are commonplace in many homes in the UK. Faulty roofs causes water and moisture to enter your home. Therefore, it is recommended that you identify and fix these leaks as soon as possible. Mentioned below are some tips that can come in handy for fixing your roof.

Locate the leak

This is the first step to fixing roof leaks. You can easily locate leaks by looking at the ceiling or the exterior walls. Leaks can be located if you enter the attic and use a torch to look at the floor, especially when it's raining. Look around for standing pools of water or wet insulation material.

Underside the of the roof tiles

Observe the underside of the roof tiles in the loft. Mould is an indication that your roof is leaking. Check the ridge tiles and flashing near dormer windows. Look around the chimney breast and check plumbing vents. These are some of the common areas for roof leaks.

Roofing repair materials

If leakage exists, you may simply need to replace a single tile. However if tit is very bad in a lot of areas you may need to have a new roof fitted.
